Wood Stove and Fireplace Insert Change-Out Program - Massachusetts

Massachusetts has created a new wood burning stove change-out program, which will provide you with up to $2,000 to replace your non-EPA-certified wood burning stove or pellet stoves or inserts for higher efficiency, cleaner burning pellet and wood stoves or fireplace inserts.

The program began on December 27. You will receive a voucher for up to $2000 towards the purchase of a new stove or fireplace insert.  If you have been considering replacing your old, inefficient stove our fireplace insert, now is the time.

Many new wood stoves, pellet stoves and fireplace inserts qualify for the rebate because they are EPA certified and meet the standards required for the Massachusetts stove change-out program.

The program will follow these steps:
  1. Customer applies for voucher ($2,000 for low-Income, $1,000 for higher income levels) at apply.masscec.com, or submits a paper application (downloadable at www.masscec.com/woodstove).
  2. MassCEC reviews customer application and awards voucher if all requirements are satisfied.
  3. Customer redeems voucher at a Massachusetts stove retailer when purchasing a stove that meets the defined Minimum Technical Requirements.*
  4. Retailer claims voucher online at apply.masscec.com.**
  5. Retailer removes non-EPA certified stove and replaces with eligible equipment.
  6. Retailer submits project completion information online at apply.masscec.com by April 1, 2013
  7. MassCEC reviews project completion information and awards rebate to retailer if all requirements are satisfied.
Wood stove and fireplace insert retailers are responsible for ensuring all program requirements are satisfied.

If you are interested in replacing your old inefficient stove with a new pellet or wood burning fireplace or fireplace insert, that is more efficient and will make your home warmer, contact Northeast Distribution for participating retailers.
